When the lights go down at the NFL Draft, the crowd goes electric — but the real work was done weeks earlier. Shawn Worlow, founder of The Production Collective and a key player in the RockForce ecosystem, joined Nikki Sands on the Giggs Podcast to talk infrastructure, planning discipline, and the workforce coordination that makes mega-events possible.
Worlow has spent more than a decade as the production operator behind the NFL Draft, plus Formula One Las Vegas, the March Madness Music Festival, SEMA Fest, and dozens more. He is not the name on the marquee. He is the reason the marquee goes up.
Show Day Is the Day Off
If production has been executed correctly, show day is when Worlow's job is effectively over. The advance work — site design, municipal coordination, labor deployment, stakeholder alignment — is what determines whether the event runs. The calm visible on show day is a product of intensive planning weeks prior.
Every Market Is a Different Problem
Worlow was direct about what separates mega-events from touring: jurisdictional complexity, political dynamics, and the pressure of events where the NFL, the broadcast team, the municipality, and the sponsors all have defined expectations of success. Union jurisdictions, permitting timelines, and labor availability vary enough that there is no template that transfers wholesale from city to city.
Integration Is the Differentiator
Worlow's arc — from touring tech and pyro operator in the 1990s to founding both a production company and a workforce payroll platform — reflects the vertical integration that defines the RockForce model. His company Collective Payroll, now within the RockForce ecosystem, was built directly from the friction of running large crews across multiple states and jurisdictions.
Getting In
For those building a career in live events: most of what the industry demands is learned on site, not in a classroom. Internships and shop work build skills faster than a degree. A strong work ethic and the ability to learn quickly will get someone on the road — and paid well — faster than most other routes.
